Cranberry sauce, dressing, and sweet potatoes are all I can think about right now, but I still managed to put together a Wednesday roundup. ‘Tis the season for book lists! There are several in today’s post, but the best is the one from NPR. I hope you find some great book recs in these links.
Books We Love - NPR
This annual NPR list is my favorite "best of" book list. I always enjoy playing with the different filters, and I usually discover some under-the-radar titles I didn't know about before. I was glad to see most of my 2023 favorites represented.
Best Books of 2023 - The New York Public Library
Speaking of under-the-radar titles, the New York Public Library delivers in their lists for adults, teens, and children.
100 Notable Books of 2023 - New York Times
Another list I look forward to is the one from the New York Times. I was surprised not to see Nathan Hill's Wellness on this one.
The Best Book Covers of 2023 - Book Riot
A good book cover is a piece of art, so I appreciate this post from Book Riot that includes some beautiful images. My favorite is The Centre. I love the bright florals against the black.
The Fall of my Teen-Age Self - Zadie Smith in the New Yorker
I thoroughly enjoy Zadie Smith's nonfiction writing. This piece is about a fall she took as a teenager, and the constantly changing emotions teens have to deal with.
The Best Psychological Thrillers of November 2023 - Crime Reads
Crime Reads consistently recommends great titles. The first book on this list, Kids Run the Show, sounds amazing. I want it in my hands right now.
ACLU, Parents, and Students Sue Alaska School District Over Book Bans - Publishers Weekly
It’s encouraging to see parents and students taking action against censorship.
7 Dark and Unsettling Books by Korean Women Writers - Electric Literature
This list had me at “dark and unsettling.” Violets and If I Had Your Face both sound great.
Thanks for reading!
Thanks for these great lists!❤️📚❤️
